HeartStarters was founded
by Mary Houska in July 2001. She began her career as an EMT-Paramedic in 1984 and has responded to victims of cardiac arrest
and horrific scenes of accidents in which citizens trained in CPR and First Aid have made a dramatic difference in how the
victim survived and recovered.
A resident in Sioux Falls since 1992, Mary discovered it was near-impossible to
find CPR and First Aid classes. Thus the idea of Heartstarters was born. HeartStarters mission is to provide a greater number
of quality life saving programs in Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas. Our mission is simply to "Save That Life".
In 2002 HeartStarters received recognition as an American Heart Association Training Center.
Use of American Heart Association materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship

HeartStarters is also recognized as
an American Safety and First Aid Training Center and Medic First Aid Training Center.
HeartStarters offers a wide variety of workplace and community courses. We can bring the training
to your facility. We travel anywhere! Classes outside a 45 mile radius of HeartStarters will have additional mileage fee.

can now offer online training for business and individuals. This is a 2 part program, fees are applicable to each part. The
first part is to go to onlineaha.org and take the online portion and print out the course completion page. The 2nd part is
to register for the skills evaluation through Heartstarters. Evaluation times are listed on the schedule page. The fee for
part 2, (the skills test and certification) is $30.
ACLS 2nd part is the ACLS renewal course
and the fee for this is $80. The skill evaluations takes as long as the renewal class minus the written test which will
usually deduct 30 minutes from the course. Remember if you are already certified in HCP CPR or ACLS you do not need to
take the online course.
The workplace training program meets OSHA recommendations.
I know first
hand the consequences of a victim with no help available, don't be the bystander who has not been prepared to save the life
of a co-worker or loved one. Schedule your training today. To Save That Life you need to be prepared, 80% of all cardiac arrests
happen in the home! The best chance of survival is given to the victims who receive help immediately. Allow HeartStarters
