HeartStarters was founded by Mary Houska in July 2001.  EMT-Paramedic since 1984, she has responded to victims of cardiac arrest and scenes of horrific accidents in which citizens trained in CPR and First Aid have made a dramatic difference in how the victim survived and recovered.
We need more first responders.
As a resident in Sioux Falls since 1992, Mary discovered it was near-impossible to find CPR and First Aid classes.
Thus the idea of Heartstarters was born. HeartStarters mission is to provide a greater number of quality life saving programs in Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas.
Our mission is simply to "Save Lives".
In 2002 HeartStarters received recognition as an American Heart Association Training Center.
Whether you need training for workplace, or personal use I have the class you need to reach your goals.

Heartstarters moves with the times and technology. We offer two options for classes. We have classeroom based couses vs Blended Learning courses. Same certification card, different ways to get there!

Course descriptions and fees are listed for each course on corresponding title pages.

The workplace training program (AHA Heartsaver First Aid and CPR), meets OSHA recommendations. Bloodborne pathogen training also available.
I know first hand the consequences of a victim when no help was available, don't be the bystander who has not been prepared to save the life of a co-worker or loved one. Schedule your training today.
To Save A Life you need to be prepared, 80% of all cardiac arrests happen in the home, this is not the time to learn CPR over the phone!
The best chance of survival is given to the victims who receive help immediately. Allow HeartStarters to help you be prepared.
Did you know that statistically 9 out of 10 people in out of hospital cardiac arrest do not recieve help prior to ambulance arrival. This reduces the chance of survival for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.
